WHAT TO SEE & DO IN HUDSON, NEW YORK
You may know the name Claire Olshan from Fivestory, the transcendent townhouse boutique that she created and sold in Manhattan’s Upper East Side. But in the last couple of years, Claire has made an even bigger name for herself in the food industry. Blending her curatorial prowess and penchant for healthy eating, Dada Daily, her elevated snack brand, was borne. Inspired by the surrealist movement of the same name, Dada Daily aims to break the rules of snacking, selling items like Elderberry Truffles and Umami Nut Mix in brilliant packaging that is both exotically intriguing and wonderfully approachable.
Claire has been called everything from a “master curator” to a “millennial Martha Stewart.” Her recommendations on everything from art, to home décor, to food, and fashion are always spot-on, which is why we’ve turned to her for intel on Hudson, New York, the arty, bohemian enclave in the Hudson Valley that’s been having its own renaissance moment as of late. Claire owns a home in neighboring Kinderhook, where she likes to spend weekends with her husband and son. Follow along for Claire’s Hudson Haunts – a true delight for any aesthete.
"My husband and I just moved into our house in Kinderhook and we have been exploring all the incredible culinary gems in the area. Our new favorite roadside pitstop restaurant is West Taghkanic Diner. This 65 year old retro diner is not only chic but the chef Kristopher Schram has worked in several Michelin starred kitchens, eventually becoming the chef de cuisine of the James Beard Award winning Terra Restaurant. It’s one of those 'everything is good on the menu' kind of places."
